Hi love, I’m Emily.

I was 32 when I lost my husband Ian to Uveal Melanoma almost four years ago, leaving me a widowed mom of two.

If you had told me that thriving after my loss was possible I would have rolled my eyes and politely told you to f*ck off. Kidding (kind of).

But seriously…

I was angry about my husband’s death.

I didn’t sign-up to do this alone! I struggled to navigate head of household, manage the finances and parent by myself. I found myself constantly snapping at my kids out of pure overwhelm and exhaustion as I rode the endless waves of grief.

I felt isolated being a 32-year old widow.

Everywhere I looked there were happy couples and families. Why me? Why us? I thought. When I tried to connect with friends, family, or even my therapist, it felt like no one could understand what I was truly going through.

I felt sad grieving the life I loved, and totally lost trying to re-build a new one.

I wasn’t ready to entertain the idea of thriving after a loss. Surviving was all that mattered.

After months of sitting in my pain and questioning how the heck this happened to me I started shifting the questions from why me? To … what now?

I started getting curious about grief, loss and other people’s stories of struggle. I began connecting with other widows online. I found coping mechanisms for my big emotions thru exercise and writing; and built a community based on these pillars.

When my outside circumstance left me feeling powerless, I learned how to cultivate power from within. I felt empowerment, resilience and growth from my loss and realized this massive rupture in my life was an invitation to go deep beneath the surface, thru the layers of conditioning, societal and religious beliefs, and ancestral patterns -- into the dark shadows, to uncover my essence and identity, my purpose and truth...

To create whatever life I wanted!

In four short years, I’ve turned my pain into my power. Instead of feeling trapped by my circumstance of loss, I’ve turned it into an opportunity for transformation. (Without bypassing grief or “letting go”)

Grief & loss are not talked about in our society. So when a loved one dies, it can feel extremely victimizing.

You might believe that you are the “only one” who has faced this type of tragedy. It doesn’t seem fair that the rest of world keeps moving when yours has stopped.

You feel alone in your struggle. Lost with no guidebook to do grief.

Hopeless as you look to the foreign future, and paralyzed by your circumstance.

These feelings are valid. An awful thing happened to you. Your person died without your consent.

You have a right to feel disappointed, sad and angry that life treated you unfairly.

What to Expect... 

Day 1: MOVE

The summit will kickoff with a conversation on coping with grief thru movement. We’ll explore how emotional memory and trauma gets stored not just in your brain, but also in your body, and how exercise can be a powerful tool to get “un-stuck” and actually feel your emotions. Ready to get moving? Good! You’ll also have the opportunity to experience firsthand the healing power of movement with a short gentle yoga-flow and breath-work session lead by moveTHRU Movement Coach Yole Anna Hines.

Day 2: GROW

The next day we will have a chance to connect as a community in small breakout rooms and come together to learn about post-traumatic growth. We’ll uncover why post-traumatic growth might occur after a loss, how to hold the duality of personal growth & grief, and key mindset shifts to support resilience and personal transformation as you navigate life after loss. I’ll invite you to reflect on your own growth, celebrate it!, and share any struggles or stuck-points to receive custom coaching in a group setting.


We will wrap up the summit with a conversation on how thriving after a loss is possible! Get ready to dive deep beneath the surface as we explore concepts of identity, SELF, sub-conscious programming, shadow work and meaning making. You’ll learn specific tools that can help you explore your inner world and unearth your truth to find meaning and purpose in life after loss. By now, you might believe me …

About Emily

Certified Grief Educator, Grief Coach, widow and founder of moveTHRU. After the loss of her husband in 2019 to Uveal Melanoma, she started moveTHRU to create new meaning out of her tragedy by helping others heal. In two years, it’s evolved into a full-blown online grief coaching business. Emily has worked with hundreds of clients in her private & free coaching groups and reached millions of followers through her social media content on TikTok and Instagram. Her mission is to help anyone who has experienced a loss embrace grief through movement, mindset, and by connecting with a community who understands, and find meaning and purpose in life after loss.

About Yole

Certified Yoga Instructor (specializing in trauma-informed and Grief Yoga), Wellness Coach, widow and Movement & Support Coach at moveTHRU. After the loss of her husband in 2021 to a rare and aggressive cancer, she dove into all things fitness and mindset to help navigate and find direction after this earth-shattering loss. Yole Anna quickly earned multiple yoga certifications, with the intent of being able to help others walking through grief, trauma, and hopelessness. Her goal is to help anyone who has experienced a loss find purpose and meaning, and explore ways to create beauty from the ashes through movement, mindset, and a supportive community that values holding space and lifting one another up.
